Before ordination Norma was a deaconess in China and
worked as a Chinese Christian Radio programme producer as well as
providing cultural training for missionaries who were working in China.
After her ordination training in England, her curacy was in Endcliffe,
Sheffield and she was then Associate Vicar in Rotherham.
Norma was
Rector of St Michael’s, Rossington near Doncaster before coming to St Mary's.

Jenny Lomas - Churchwarden
A retired teacher, Jenny has lived and worked in Middlesbrough all her life, most of it in St Mary's parish. She attended Sunday school, was confirmed and married at St Mary's and her children were baptised and confirmed there also.
Bob Willis - Churchwarden
Robert Willis (Bob) – is a retired
Production Manager, who has spent all his working life on the railways at Thornaby on
locomotive maintenance and dealing with derailments and collisions.
He has lived in Teesside all his life. After singing in
several church choirs, he finally settled in St Mary's choir nearly 30 years ago and
has been involved in the life of the church via the PCC and several committees
ever since.
Geoffrey Hill - Organist & Choirmaster
After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Geoff became organist of the city church of St Botolph, Aldgate and Music Master of the Sir John Cass School. He moved to Middlesbrough in 1968 taking up, with school appointments, the Organist posts at St Barnabas, Middlesbrough and St Cuthbert's Ormesby, before moving to St Mary's on Epiphany Sunday 1980. He retired in 1996 but returned in 2003.
Jack Thompson – Assistant Organist
Jack took his first organ lessons at St Paul's Church, Middlesbrough where he was a choirboy. His career was as a Maths teacher at Acklam Sixth Form College. He has served as organist/choirmaster at several churches in the Teesside area, before finally settling at St Mary’s. Being interested in singing, he has also been a member of several mixed voice choirs.
